The development of technology, globalization and diversification of cargo and the ability to apply new technical solutions increasingly encourage the need for infrastructure enhancement and customization of ports. This can be manifested in the need for the construction of port terminals designed to accommodate different types of cargo. The basic task of this seminar paper is, by passing through the entire process of digital relief modelling, to demonstrate the importance of bathymetric survey in the construction of port terminals. The basic aim of bathymetric survey is to determine the depth, morphology and sedimentological characteristics of the bottom of different types of bodies of water. In the plans for the construction and establishment of port terminals, bathymetric survey is listed as one of the first and key activities to be carried out for the successful continuation of the mentioned spatial intervention. The paper analyses the example of the construction of the bulk cargo terminal in the port of Ploče for which data on the depth of the zero (12262 points) and the final state (22492 points) were submitted. Particular emphasis is placed on the selection of user-defined parameters (MI, spatial resolution, algorithms) that affect the output result (volume). Based on the digital relief models of the underwater of the zero and final state and the Newton-Cotes formula, the volume (m³) of the dredged material was calculated according to the best geostatistic and deterministic interpolation methods. ArcGIS for Desktop software was used for data processing. Using specific visualization techniques and methods, perspective views by defined zones for zero and final states were made with a free trial version of Surfer Golden Software. Bathymetric measurements were performed with an integrated measuring system that included the Hydrostar 4300 and Ashtech Promark 500 and Thales Z-Max GPS devices
