Description
This project aims to take a holistic catchment based approach and produce a 'Best Practice Management Guide' for Stakeholders and interested parties involved with the shellfish beds of the Conwy, Menai Strait and Burry Inlet in relation to pathogen retention.
Our objectives are to try an understand pathogenic, microbial, bacterial and viral behaviour in relation to shellfish
The outcome of this research will provide the Shellfish Industry within Wales and the UK to obtain results of shellfish screening quickly and provide mitigation strategies to reduced microbial pollution in estuarine and coastal waters
This collaborative project has been part-funded by the European Fisheries Fund (EFF) 2012 - 15
