Adnabyddir y defnydd o ferfau symud i gyfleu’r dyfodol yn drawsieithyddol fel enghraifft o ramadegoli (grammaticalization), sef lle bo strwythur yn newid dros amser i fod yn llai diriaethol ac yn fwy gramadegol. Dadansoddir nifer o gorpora hanesyddol a chyfoes o’r Gymraeg mewn modd ansoddol er mwyn adnabod datblygiad trawsamserol o mynd i er mwyn cyfleu’r dyfodol yn yr iaith Gymraeg. Gwelir rhai enghreifftiau o’r ffurf ramadegoledig o mynd i mewn testtunau o’r 16eg a’r 17eg ganrif, gan ddangos bod y broses gramadegoli wedi dechrau o leiaf 500 mlynedd yn ôl, ond nid yw’r strwythur yn dod yn flaenllaw tan yr ugeinfed ganrif. Dadleuir bod hyn yn enghraifft o ddylanwad gramadeg y Saesneg, sydd â’r ymadrodd BE going to sydd hefyd wedi bod drwy broses o ramadegoli hanesyddol, a bod cynnydd mewn dwyieithrwydd yn yr 20fed ganrif yng Nghymru wedi bod yn ffactor yn normaleiddio y ffurf wedi ei ramadegoli. Trafodir sut mae sefyllfa’r strwythur Cymraeg hwn yn datblygu ein gwybodaeth o effaith cyffwrdd iaith ar ramadegoli.
[Translation: The use of verbs of motion to express futurity is recognized cross-linguistically as an example of grammaticalization, whereby a construction changes over time to be less concrete and more grammatical. A number of historical and contemporary Welsh corpora are qualitatively analysed in order to identify the diachronic development of mynd i ‘going to’ to express the future in Welsh. Some examples of the grammaticalized form of mynd i are found in texts from the 16th and 17th centuries, indicating that the grammaticalization process started at least 500 years ago, but the construction does not become prominent until the 20th century. It is argued that this is as example of the influence of English grammar, where BE + going to has also historically gone through a process of grammaticalization, and that an increase in bilingualism in Wales in the 20th century has been a factor in normalising the grammaticalized form. A discussion is provided of how the situation of this Welsh construction informs our knowledge of the effect of language contact on grammaticalization.]
